Three Helpful Hints For When You Ask For A Wedding Photography Quote

So you’ve called a wedding photographer and they have offered you a quote for your wedding photography that is within your budget. Congratulations! You should accept it right away, right? DEFINITELY NOT! You most likely could have worked out a better deal if you had actually read this short article before asking for the quote.

The majority of people don’t understand exactly what an estimate actually is on it’s most basic level. At the end of the day, this quote represents the target price the photographer wants to exchange his/her time for. However, this quote represents more than the amount you will need to pay for the photographer’s time. Keeping this in mind, how can you (as the client) reduce the amount of the quote so that it more accurately represents your idea of the worth of the photographer’s time? Below are 3 considerations for you to keep in mind that may encourage a photographer to push up the value of their time, and therefore increase the asking amount from you for their services.

1) Lack of information
Professional photographers HATE missing information when trying to quote for a job. More often than not, it is extremely difficult for professional photographers to get the correct level of detail when they are developing their quote. This is normally due to the fact that clients supply the bare minimum of details when requesting a quote. Scenarios aside from the quantity of time a photographer will be at the event matter greatly. For instance, if your wedding will be spread throughout numerous rooms a photographer will almost certainly need an assistant and your quote will show this added expense. On the other hand, if your wedding will be in a single space there may not be a requirement for the assistant. If the photographer does not have this information prior to releasing the quote, you can bet that the quote you receive reflects the worst case circumstance (i.e. the additional expenditure for the assistant’s wage, insurance coverage, etc.).

2) Be sensible when estimating the number of hours you will require coverage
Most individuals overstate the amount of time they think that they’ll need a photographer to be at the wedding. Do you really require the photographer for the complete wedding reception? How many different angles do you actually need of the same people drinking cocktails and eating? An hour or more of unnecessary service can end up being quite costly. Although, having said that, it is always better to overestimate than underestimate the length of time you will need the photographer on-site. Giving accurate hours is the fastest method to cut unneeded costs from your quote.

3) Be honest about when you require the completed photos delivered
If you have elected photo retouching, do not demand that the photos be completed by the next business day. If you require a few initial photographs for thank you cards, social media, etc. following the wedding, then request that when you are booking the photographer – don’t make this request on the day of the wedding or, even worse, during the reception. The chances that you need ALL of the photos finished within 72 hours is rare. There is little doubt that the photographer will try to honor your demand; but in order to do so, they will have to push off other work. Pushing off other work comes at a premium and will be shown in your quote. For the best quote, ask for the initial photos that you really do need almost immediately and (specify exactly what these photos have to contain) and allow 7-10 business days for the rest of the photos to be delivered to you.

So to summarize, provide your photographer with as much information at the first meeting as you possibly can, set clear expectations of your needs from the onset, and always be truthful with both your photographer and yourself. Follow these pointers and you’ll be bringing down those over-inflated photography quotes in no time.

About Tavares, Florida

Tavares (pronounced tuh-vair-ees) is a city located in the central portion of the U.S. state of Florida. It is the county seat of Lake County.[6] The population in 2015 was 14,583, with a total of 5,000 households and an average household income of $40,000.[7] It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name is a popular Portuguese surname and toponym.

The city was founded by newspaper and railroad man Alexander St. Clair-Abrams in 1880 and named for a Portuguese ancestor. In 1883 a post office was established, which was followed by a hotel, three stores, a sawmill, and eight cottages in 1884.[8] While St. Clair-Abrams did not achieve his dream that Tavares become the state capital of Florida (Tallahassee has held the spot since 1823), in 1887 the city was named the seat of Lake County. St. Clair-Abrams later chartered a railroad to run from Tavares to Orlando. In 1919, Tavares incorporated as a town.
