Three Helpful Tips When Asking For A Wedding Photography Proposal

So you’ve contacted a wedding photographer and they have offered you a quote for your wedding photographs that is within your spending limits. Congratulations! You should accept it right away, right? WRONG! You probably could have worked out a much better price package if you had actually read this short article earlier.

Most people don’t understand what an estimate actually is on it’s most fundamental level. At the end of the day, this quote represents the target price the photographer is willing to exchange his/her efforts for. But, this quote represents more than the amount you will need to pay for the photographer’s time. Keeping this in mind, how can you (as the customer) bring down the stated quote so that it more properly represents your idea of the worth of the photographer’s time? Below are 3 considerations for you to keep in mind that may cause a photographer to increase the value of their time, and therefore increase the asking amount from you for their services.

1) Lack of information
Photographers really can’t abide a lack of information when trying to quote for a job. Typically, it is extremely tough for professional photographers to get the correct level of detail when they are developing their quote. This is typically due to the fact that clients offer the bare minimum of details when requesting a quote. Situations besides the quantity of time a photographer will be at the event matter greatly. For instance, if your wedding will be spread throughout numerous rooms a photographer will likely need an assistant and your quote will reflect this extra expense. On the other hand, if your wedding will be in a single room there may not be a need for the assistant. If the photographer does not have this information prior to issuing the quote, you can guarantee that the quote you get reflects the worst case scenario (i.e. the extra cost for the assistant’s income, insurance coverage, etc.).

2) Be sensible when estimating the number of hours you will need the photographer’s services
Most people overestimate the amount of time they think that they’ll need a photographer to be at the wedding. Do you truly need the photographer for all 3 hours of the wedding reception? How many different angles do you really need of the same guests drinking cocktails and eating? An hour or two of unneeded service can end up being quite expensive. Although, having said that, it is always better to overestimate than underestimate the amount of time you will require the photographer on-site. Giving accurate hours is the fastest way to remove unnecessary expenses from your quote.

3) Be sincere about when you require the final photos delivered
If you have actually elected photo editing, don’t request that the photos be delivered by the next business day. If you need a few initial images for thank you cards, Instagram, etc. after the wedding, then request that when you are booking the photographer – don’t make this request on the wedding day itself or, even worse, during the reception. The chances that you need ALL of the photos finished within 72 hours is unusual. There is little doubt that the photographer will try to honor your request; however in order to do so, they will need to push off other work. Pushing off work comes at a premium and will be shown in your quote. For the best quote, request the initial photographs that you really do need almost immediately and (be specific about what these photos need to look like) and allow 7-10 business days for the remainder of the photographs to be delivered to you.

In summary, supply your photographer with as much detail at the first meeting as you possibly can, set clear expectations of your needs from the beginning, and always be sincere with both your photographer and yourself. Follow these tips and you’ll be bringing down those over-inflated photography quotes in no time.

About Pembroke Pines, Florida

Pembroke Pines is a city in southern Broward County, Florida, United States. Pembroke Pines’ current population is estimated at 168,587 as of 2016. The city had a population of 154,750 as of the 2010 census,[7] making it the second-most populous city in Broward County after Fort Lauderdale, and the 11th-most populous in Florida. It is a principal city of the Miami metropolitan area, which was home to an estimated 6,012,331 people in 2015.

Pembroke Pines was officially incorporated on January 16, 1960. The city’s name, Pembroke Pines, is traced back to Sir Edward Reed, a Member of Britain’s Parliament for the County of Pembroke in 1874, who purchased and farmed land in the 1880s which today occupies much of what is now the nearby city of Dania Beach. The road put through his land came to be known as Pembroke Road. When incorporating, the mayor (Dr. Kipnis) suggested the name Pembroke Pines because of the pine trees growing near Pembroke Road.[citation needed]
