3 Helpful Hints For When You Ask For A Wedding Photography Proposal

So you’ve called a wedding photographer and they have now given you a quote for your wedding photographs that is within your budget. Congratulations! You should accept it straightaway, right? WRONG! You probably could have worked out a much better deal if you had actually read this short article before asking for the quote.

Most people don’t comprehend what a price quote really is on it’s most fundamental level. At the end of the day, this quote represents the target price the photographer wants to exchange his/her time for. But, this quote represents more than the quantity you will have to pay for the photographer’s time. Keeping this in mind, how can you (as the customer) bring down the amount of the quote so that it more properly represents your own idea of the worth of the photographer’s time? Listed below are 3 considerations for you to keep in mind that may cause a photographer to increase the value of their time, and therefore increase the asking amount from you for their services.

1) Lack of information
Professional photographers HATE a lack of information when attempting to quote for a job. Generally, it is extremely tough for photographers to gather the correct level of information when they are constructing their quote. This is usually due to the fact that customers provide the bare minimum of details when requesting a quote. Situations besides the quantity of time a photographer will be at the occasion matter significantly. For instance, if your wedding will be held throughout several rooms a photographer will likely require an assistant and your quote will show this added expense. On the other hand, if your wedding will remain in a single space there might not be a need for the assistant. If the photographer does not have this information prior to releasing the quote, you can bet that the quote you get shows the worst case circumstance (i.e. the extra expense for the assistant’s salary, insurance coverage, etc.).

2) Be practical when giving the number of hours you will require coverage
Most individuals overestimate the length of time they think that they’ll need a photographer to be at the wedding. Do you truly require the photographer for the complete wedding reception? How many angles do you actually need of the same guests drinking cocktails and eating? An hour or 2 of unnecessary service can end up being rather costly. Although, having said that, it is always much better to overestimate than underestimate the length of time you will need the photographer on-site. Giving accurate hours is the fastest way to remove unneeded costs from your quote.

3) Be sincere about when you need the final photos delivered
If you have chosen photo editing, do not demand that the photos be delivered by the next business day. If you need a couple of preliminary photographs for thank you cards, Facebook or Instagram, etc. after the wedding, then ask for that when you are booking the photographer – don’t make this request on the wedding day itself or, even worse, during the reception. The chances that you need ALL of the photos finished within 72 hours is unlikely. There is little doubt that the photographer will attempt to honor your request; but in order to do so, they will need to push off other work. Pushing off other work comes at a premium and will be reflected in your quote. For the best quote, request the initial photographs that you really do require almost immediately and (specify what these photographs have to contain) and permit 7-10 business days for the rest of the photographs to be delivered to you.

In summary, provide your photographer with as much information when you first meet with the him/her as you possibly can, set clear expectations of your needs from the start, and always be honest with both your photographer and yourself. Follow these tips and you’ll be slashing into those over-inflated photography quotes in no time.

About Palatka, Florida

Palatka (pronounced puh-lat-kuh) is a city in Putnam County, Florida, United States. The population was 10,558 at the 2010 census.[5] It is the county seat of Putnam County.[6] Palatka is the principal city of the Palatka Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is home to 72,893 residents. The city is also home to St. Johns River State College, St. Johns River Water Management District Headquarters, and Ravine Gardens State Park. The area is well known for its local festivals, most notably the Florida Azalea Festival and the Blue Crab Festival.

The area was once the domain of the Timucuan peoples, two tribes of which existed in the Palatka region under chiefs Saturiwa and Utina. They fished bass and mullet, or hunted deer, turkeys, bear and opossum. Others farmed beans, corn, melons, squash, and tobacco. However, infectious disease that came with European contact and war devastated the tribes, and they were extinct by the mid-18th century. The last people evacuated with the Spanish to Cuba in 1763, when Spain ceded Florida to Great Britain after the Seven Years’ War.
