Three Helpful Tips For When You Ask For A Wedding Photography Quote

So you’ve contacted a wedding photographer and they have now provided you a quote for your wedding photographs that is within your budget. Congratulations! You should accept it right away, right? WRONG! You probably could have worked out a better deal if you had actually read this short article earlier.

The majority of people don’t comprehend exactly what a price quote actually is on it’s most fundamental level. At the end of the day, this quote represents the amount of money the photographer is willing to exchange his/her efforts for. However, this quote represents more than the amount you will need to pay for the photographer’s time. Keeping this in mind, how can you (as the customer) reduce the amount of the quote so that it more precisely represents your own idea of the value of the photographer’s time? Listed below are 3 considerations for you to keep in mind that may cause a photographer to increase the value of their time, and therefore increase the asking amount from you for their services.

1) Missing information
Photographers really can’t abide missing information when attempting to quote for a job. Generally, it is extremely tough for professional photographers to garner the appropriate level of information when they are developing their quote. This is generally because customers supply the bare minimum of details when requesting a quote. Circumstances aside from the quantity of time a photographer will be at the occasion matter greatly. For instance, if your wedding will be spread throughout numerous rooms a photographer will likely need an assistant and your quote will show this extra expense. On the other hand, if your wedding will be in a single room there may not be a need for the assistant. If the photographer does not have this information prior to issuing the quote, you can guarantee that the quote you receive reflects the worst case scenario (i.e. the extra expense for the assistant’s wage, insurance coverage, etc.).

2) Be reasonable when estimating the number of hours you will need coverage
Most individuals overestimate the amount of time they think they require a photographer to be at the wedding. Do you really need the photographer for the complete wedding reception? How many angles do you really require of the same guests drinking cocktails and eating? An hour or 2 of unneeded photographer’s time can become rather expensive. Although, having said that, it is always much better to overestimate than underestimate the length of time you will require the photographer on-site. Giving accurate hours is the fastest way to cut unneeded expenses from your quote.

3) Be sincere about when you require the completed images delivered
If you have chosen photo enhancements, don’t demand that the photographs be completed by the next business day. If you need a few preliminary photos for thank you cards, Instagram, etc. immediately after the wedding, then request for that at the time of booking the photographer – don’t make this request on the day of the wedding or, even worse, during the reception. The chances that you require ALL of the photos finished within 72 hours is rare. There is little doubt that the photographer will try to oblige your demand; however in order to do so, they will need to push off other work. Pushing back other work comes at a premium and will be reflected in your quote. For the best quote, ask for the initial photos that you really do need straightaway and (be specific about exactly what these images have to look like) and enable 7-10 business days for the remainder of the images to be delivered.

So to summarize, supply your photographer with as much information when you first meet with the him/her as you possibly can, set clear expectations of your needs from the onset, and always be truthful with both your photographer and yourself. Follow these tips and you’ll be bringing down those over-inflated photography quotes in no time.

About North Palm Beach, Florida

North Palm Beach is an incorporated village in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. The population was 12,015 at the 2010 census. The village won an award from the National Association of Home Builders as best planned community of 1956. The North Palm Beach Country Club is home to a Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course.

In 1954 for $5.5 million John D. MacArthur bought 2,600 acres (11 km2) of land in northern Palm Beach County that had been owned originally by Harry Seymour Kelsey and later by Sir Harry Oakes. The land included most of today’s North Palm Beach as well as Lake Park, Palm Beach Gardens and Palm Beach Shores.[5] MacArthur then began developing what is now North Palm Beach, which sat on former mangrove swamps and farm land. The area was punctuated only by Monet Road and Johnson Dairy Road to the north and south and US 1 and Prosperity Farms Road to the east and west.
