3 Helpful Tips For When You Ask For A Wedding Photography Proposal

So you’ve been in touch with a wedding photographer and they have now offered you a quote for your wedding photography that is within your budget. Congratulations! You should accept it right away, right? DEFINITELY NOT! You most likely could have worked out a better price package if you had read this article earlier.

The majority of people don’t comprehend what an estimate truly is on it’s most fundamental level. At the end of the day, this quote represents the amount of money the photographer wants to exchange his/her time for. But, this quote represents more than the amount you will have to pay for the photographer’s time. Keeping this in mind, how can you (as the customer) bring down the amount of the quote so that it more accurately represents your idea of the value of the photographer’s time? Listed below are 3 considerations for you to keep in mind that may encourage a photographer to increase the value of their time, and therefore increase the asking amount from you for their services.

1) Lack of information
Photographers HATE a lack of information when attempting to quote for a job. Most of the time, it is very difficult for photographers to garner the correct level of detail when they are building their quote. This is typically due to the fact that clients offer the bare minimum of info when requesting a quote. Situations aside from the quantity of time a photographer will be at the event matter greatly. For instance, if your wedding will be spread throughout numerous rooms a photographer will probably need an assistant and your quote will reflect this extra expense. On the other hand, if your wedding will be in a single space there might not be a need for the assistant. If the photographer does not have this information prior to releasing the quote, you can guarantee that the quote you get reflects the worst case situation (i.e. the extra expense for the assistant’s wage, insurance, and so on).

2) Be practical when giving the amount of time you will need coverage
Most individuals overstate the length of time they think that they’ll require a photographer to be at the wedding. Do you actually require the photographer for all 3 hours of the wedding reception? How many different angles do you really need of the same guests drinking cocktails and eating? An hour or two of unneeded photographer’s time can end up being quite expensive. Although, having said that, it is always better to overestimate than underestimate the length of time you will need the photographer on-site. Giving accurate hours is the fastest way to cut unnecessary costs from your quote.

3) Be honest about when you require the final images delivered
If you have elected photo enhancements, don’t demand that the photographs be finished by the next business day. If you need a few preliminary photos for thank you cards, social media, etc. immediately after the wedding, then request that when you are booking the photographer – don’t make this request on the wedding day itself or, even worse, during the reception. The chances that you need ALL of the photos finished within 72 hours is rare. There is little doubt that the photographer will try to honor your request; however in order to do so, they will need to push off other work. Pushing off other work comes at a premium and will be reflected in your quote. For the most cost-effective quote, request the initial photographs that you really do need almost immediately and (be specific about what these photos have to look like) and allow 7-10 business days for the rest of the photos to be delivered.

In summary, provide your photographer with as much detail when you first meet with the him/her as you possibly can, set clear expectations of your needs from the start, and always be truthful with both your photographer and yourself. Follow these suggestions and you’ll be slashing into those over-inflated photography quotes in no time.

About Marianna, Florida

Marianna is a city in Jackson County, Florida, United States. The population was 6,102 at the 2010 census.[5] In 2016 the estimated population was 9,052.[2] It is the county seat of Jackson County[6] and is home to Chipola College. The official nickname of Marianna is “The City of Southern Charm”. In 1920 the Mighty Haag Circus moved its winter headquarters to Marianna.

Marianna was founded in 1828 by Scottish entrepreneur Scott Beverege, who named the town after his daughters Mary and Anna.[7] It was named the county seat the following year, supplanting the earlier settlement of Webbville, which soon dissolved and no longer exists. Marianna was platted along the Chipola River, and many plantation owners from North Carolina relocated to Jackson County for the fertile soil.
