Three Helpful Hints When Asking For A Wedding Photography Proposal

So you’ve contacted a wedding photographer and they have offered you a quote for your wedding photographs that is within your spending limits. Congratulations! You should accept it immediately, right? DEFINITELY NOT! You probably could have negotiated a better price package if you had actually read this short article before asking for the proposal.

The majority of people do not comprehend what a price quote actually is on it’s most fundamental level. At the end of the day, this quote represents the amount of money the photographer wants to exchange his/her time for. However, this quote represents more than the amount you will need to pay for the photographer’s time. Keeping this in mind, how can you (as the client) reduce the stated quote so that it more accurately represents your idea of the worth of the photographer’s time? Listed below are 3 considerations for you to keep in mind that may cause a photographer to increase the value of their time, and therefore increase the asking amount from you for their services.

1) Missing information
Professional photographers HATE a lack of information when trying to quote for a wedding. Most of the time, it is incredibly hard for professional photographers to garner the correct level of detail when they are building their quote. This is typically due to the fact that clients offer the bare minimum of details when asking for a quote. Situations aside from the quantity of time a photographer will be at the occasion matter considerably. For instance, if your wedding will be held throughout numerous rooms a photographer will almost certainly need an assistant and your quote will reflect this extra expense. On the other hand, if your wedding will remain in a single room there may not be a requirement for the assistant. If the photographer does not have this information prior to issuing the quote, you can guarantee that the quote you receive reflects the worst case circumstance (i.e. the additional expense for the assistant’s income, insurance, etc.).

2) Be realistic when estimating the number of hours you will require the photographer’s services
Most individuals overstate the amount of time they think that they’ll need a photographer to be at the wedding. Do you actually need the photographer for all 3 hours of the wedding reception? How many angles do you really need of the same people drinking cocktails and eating? An hour or 2 of unnecessary service can end up being quite costly. Although, having said that, it is always much better to overestimate than underestimate the amount of time you will require the photographer on-site. Giving accurate hours is the fastest way to remove unnecessary expenses from your quote.

3) Be truthful about when you need the finished photos delivered
If you have chosen photo enhancements, don’t demand that the images be finished by the next business day. If you need a few preliminary photos for thank you cards, Instagram, etc. following the wedding, then request for that when you are booking the photographer – don’t make this request on the day of the wedding or, even worse, during the reception. The chances that you need ALL of the photos finished within 72 hours is rare. There is little doubt that the photographer will try to oblige your demand; but in order to do so, they will have to push off other work. Pushing back work comes at a premium and will be shown in your quote. For the most cost-effective quote, ask for the preliminary images that you really do require almost immediately and (specify what these photographs need to contain) and enable 7-10 business days for the remainder of the images to be delivered to you.

In summary, provide your photographer with as much detail when you first meet with the him/her as you possibly can, set clear expectations of your needs from the onset, and always be sincere with both your photographer and yourself. Follow these suggestions and you’ll be slashing into those over-inflated photography quotes in no time.

About Levy County, Florida

Levy County is a county located in the U.S. state of Florida. As of the 2010 census, the population was 40,801.[2] Its county seat is Bronson.[3]

Levy County was created in 1845, after the Seminole Wars. It was named for David Levy Yulee, a planter elected in 1841 as the state’s territorial delegate to the US House of Representatives, where he served two terms.[4] When Florida was admitted as a state, Levy was elected by the new state legislature as one of Florida’s first two U.S. senators; he served from 1845 to 1851. In 1855 he was again elected to the Senate, and he served until withdrawing in 1861 in order to support the Confederacy at the start of the American Civil War. He was the first Jewish American elected to the United States Senate.
