Three Helpful Hints For When You Ask For A Wedding Photography Quote

So you’ve contacted a wedding photographer and they have now offered you a quote for your wedding photographs that is within your budget. Congratulations! You should accept it right away, right? DEFINITELY NOT! You most likely could have negotiated a much better price package if you had actually read this short article before asking for the quote.

Most people don’t understand what an estimate actually is on it’s most fundamental level. At the end of the day, this quote represents the target price the photographer is willing to exchange his/her time for. However, this quote represents more than the quantity you will need to pay out for the photographer’s time. Keeping this in mind, how can you (as the customer) bring down the stated quote so that it more precisely represents your own idea of the value of the photographer’s time? Listed below are 3 considerations for you to keep in mind that may cause a photographer to increase the value of their time, and therefore increase the asking amount from you for their services.

1) Missing details
Professional photographers HATE missing information when trying to quote for a job. Most of the time, it is incredibly hard for professional photographers to get the appropriate level of detail when they are developing their quote. This is generally due to the fact that customers offer the bare minimum of info when requesting a quote. Circumstances besides the quantity of time a photographer will be at the occasion matter significantly. For instance, if your wedding will be spread throughout numerous rooms a photographer will almost certainly need an assistant and your quote will reflect this added expense. On the other hand, if your wedding will remain in a single space there might not be a requirement for the assistant. If the photographer does not have this information prior to providing the quote, you can guarantee that the quote you receive reflects the worst case scenario (i.e. the additional expenditure for the assistant’s income, insurance coverage, and so on).

2) Be practical when giving the number of hours you will need the photographer’s services
Most engaged couples overestimate the amount of time they think they need a photographer to be at the wedding. Do you actually require the photographer for the complete wedding reception? How many different angles do you really need of the same guests drinking champagne and eating? An hour or two of unnecessary photographer’s time can end up being rather expensive. Although, having said that, it is always much better to overestimate than underestimate the length of time you will need the photographer on-site. Giving accurate hours is the fastest method to cut unnecessary costs from your quote.

3) Be honest about when you need the finished photos delivered
If you have actually chosen photo retouching, don’t request that the images be done by the next business day. If you need a couple of preliminary photographs for thank you cards, Instagram, etc. following the wedding, then request for that at the time of booking the photographer – don’t make this request on the day of the wedding or, even worse, during the reception. The chances that you need ALL of the photos finished within 72 hours is unusual. There is little doubt that the photographer will attempt to honor your request; but in order to do so, they will have to push off other work. Pushing off work comes at a premium and will be reflected in your quote. For the best quote, ask for the preliminary photographs that you really do need straightaway and (specify what these images have to look like) and permit 7-10 business days for the rest of the photographs to be delivered to you.

In summary, supply your photographer with as much detail at the first meeting as you possibly can, set clear expectations of your needs from the onset, and always be truthful with both your photographer and yourself. Follow these pointers and you’ll be cutting those over-inflated photography quotes in no time.

About Defuniak Springs, Florida

DeFuniak Springs is a city in Walton County, Florida, United States. The population was 5,089 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Walton County.

The town was founded during the late 19th century as a resort development, by the officers of the Pensacola and Atlantic Railroad, a subsidiary of the Louisville and Nashville Railroad. The P&A was organized to connect the terminus of the L&N at Pensacola to the western terminus of a predecessor of the Seaboard Air Line Railroad at River Junction—now Chattahoochee—in the 1880s. The town was named after Frederick R. De Funiak,[5] a vice-president of the L&N. Like much of Northwest Florida, DeFuniak Springs was settled mainly by Scots from Virginia and the Carolinas.
