A Few Things To Ask When You Are Considering Hiring a Sports Photographer

If the answer is no then I would advise you to stop right there and look for an alternative photographer. No need to continue the conversation. If you hire a relative or aquaintance to take the photographs, and they have an accident, who is going to pay for the medical bills. Remember in the USA people sue very quickly so you need to protect yourself.

If the answer is yes, then continue questioning to see how much coverage is afforded inside the insurance, what is and isn’t included in the policy, and who is liable for any deductions that the insurance doesn’t cover?

Also ensure that you get a copy of the insurance before the event to to be sure the insurance policy really does exist and that it is still current.

You should know how long the applicant has been a sports photographer, where they did their photographic training and what diplomas, if any that they have. Do they belong to any photographer associations or if they’ve ever won any photographic competitions. If the answer is yes, always ask to see evidence.

Any reputable and reliable sports photographer will have no problem in providing you with references from previous clients. Be sure to call them and get their take on the photographer. Ask questions such as:

  • Was he/she easy to work with?
  • What were the final shots like? Were you happy?
  • Would you hire this same photographer again?

Ask to look at samples of their sports photography from different sporting events. This shouldl give you a better sense of the depth of the photographer’s work and how good they really are. In addition, by checking out different events you will get a good idea of whether or not the photographer is always good…or just lucky every now and then.

By having could help to make the shoot run a lot more smoothly. Two heads are better than one, right? An assistant or second photographer could mean have the same pictures taken from different angles and therefore displaying different effects. Also, there will be a little bit of insurance of not missing shots if the equipment of the first photographer breaks down.

It is vital that you establish exactly what it is that you are getting for your money before you sign any contracts. How much time will the photographer be at the event? Exactly how many photos will be delivered? How will the proofs be delivered? Will the photographer carry out any post-production editing of photographs to remove any blemishes? Does the package you choose include albums or framed photographs?

Also, ensure that you ask how long you have to decide which photos you would like delivered after seeing the proofs, and how long it takes to get the final photographs?

It’s vital that you ask all these questions and don’t just assume. Then you can avoid disappointment and arguments because your expectations weren’t met.

More About Haines City, Florida

Haines City is a city in Polk County, Florida, United States. Its population was 13,174 at the 2000 census and 20,535 at the 2010 census.[5] It is the third most populous city in Polk County. It is part of the Lakeland–Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area, which, in turn, is considered part of the Tampa Bay Area.

Haines City was platted in 1885, shortly after the South Florida Railroad reached the area.[6] The city was first known as Clay Cut, but there was no railroad station. It is said that the inhabitants persuaded the railroad company to build a station by agreeing to rename their city Haines City, to honor a senior railroad official, Colonel Henry Haines.[7]
