A Few Things To Ask When You Are Considering Hiring a Sports Photographer

If the answer is no then stop right there. No need to continue the conversation. Should you hire a friend or aquaintance to take the photographs, and they trip and injure someone, who is going to pay for the medical bills. Keep in mind in the United States people sue very quickly so you need to be protected.

If the answer is yes, then continue questioning to find out how much coverage is afforded inside the insurance, what is and isn’t included in the policy, and who is liable for any deductions that the insurance doesn’t cover?

Also ensure that you get a copy of the insurance prior to the event just to make sure the insurance policy really does exist and that it is still active.

You will need to know how long the person has been a sports photographer, where they carried out their photgraphy training and what diplomas, if any do they have. Do they belong to any photographer associations or if they’ve ever won any photographic competitions. If the answer is yes, always ask to see proof.

A confidant and reliable sports photographer will have no problem in offering references from previous customers. Make sure you call them and get their opinons of the photographer. Ask questions such as:

  • Was the photographer easy to work with?
  • What were the end results like? Were you satisfied?
  • Would you hire him/her again?

Request to see samples of their sports photography from different events. This shouldl give you a good idea of the depth of the photographer’s work and how good they really are. Also, by looking at different events this will give you an idea of whether or not the photographer is consistently good…or just lucky every now and then.

By having could help to make the shoot run more smoothly. Two heads are better than one, and all that! An assistant or second photographer could mean have the same pictures taken from different angles and therefore displaying different effects. Finally, there will be a a bit of insurance of not missing shots should the equipment of the first photographer break down.

It is vital to establish exactly what you are getting for your money before you sign any contracts. How long will the photographer be at the event? How many photos will you get? How will the proofs be delivered? Will there be post-production editing of photos so any blemishes can be removed? Wiil the package include albums or framed photographs?

In addition, make sure you ask how long you have to decide which images you would like delivered after seeing the proofs, and how long does it take to get the final delivery?

Seriously, it’s vital that you ask these questions and don’t make assumptions. Then you can avoid disappointment and arguments because your expectations weren’t met.

More About Fleming Island, Florida

Fleming Island is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Clay County, Florida, United States.[1] It is located 21 miles (34 km) southwest of downtown Jacksonville, on the western side of the St. Johns River, off US 17. As of the 2010 census the Fleming Island CDP had a population of 27,126.[2] Fleming Island’s ZIP code became 32003 in 2004, giving it a different code from Orange Park, the incorporated town to the north.

Fleming Island was an area of Florida settled by Irish immigrant, George Fleming (1760-1821), who received a 1,000-acre land grant from the Spanish governor of East Florida for his military service.[3] George Fleming built a plantation in 1790 and it was named Hibernia Plantation (in what is now Hibernia, Florida), after the Latin word for Ireland.[3] When he died in 1821, the plantation was left to his son, Col. Lewis Michael Fleming (1798-1862).[3]
