Questions You Should Ask When You Are Considering Hiring a Sports Photographer

If the answer is no then I would advise you to stop right there. No need to continue the discussion. Should you employ a friend or someone you know to carry out the task, and they trip and injure someone, who is going to cover for the medical bills. Remember in the United States people sue very quickly so you need to protect yourself.

If the answer is yes, then continue asking questions to see how much coverage the insurance carries, what does and doesn’t it cover, and who is liable for any deductions that aren’t covered?

Also make sure you get a copy of the insurance before the event just to make sure the insurance really does exist and that it is still current.

You will want to know how long the vendor has been a sports photographer, where they carried out their photographic training and what qualifications, if any do they have. Do they belong to any photographer associations and if they’ve ever won any photographic competitions. If the answer is yes, always ask to see evidence.

A confidant and experienced sports photographer should have no problem in offering references from previous customers. Be sure to call them and ask questions such as:

  • Was the photographer easy to work with?
  • What were the final shots like? Were you happy?
  • Would you hire this same photographer again?

Request to see samples of their sports photography from different events. This shouldl give you a better sense of the depth of the photographer’s work and how good they really are. Also, by checking out different events you will get a good idea of whether or not the photographer is consistently good…or just lucky every now and then.

Having an assistant or second photographer could help to make the shoot run more smoothly. Two heads are better than one, and all that! An assistant or second photographer could mean have the same shots taken from different angles and therefore displaying different effects. Finally, there will be a a little insurance of not missing shots if the equipment of the first photographer breaks down.

It’s vital to establish exactly what you are getting for your money before you hire the sports photographer. How long will the photographer stay at the event? Exactly how many photographs will you get? How will the proofs be delivered? Will the photographer carry out any post-production editing of photographs so any blemishes can be removed? Does the package you choose include albums or framed photographs?

In addition, ensure you ask how long you have to decide which photographs you would like delivered after seeing the proofs, and how long it takes to receive the final photographs?

Seriously, it’s vital that you ask these questions and don’t make assumptions. Doing this means that you can avoid disappointment and arguments because your expectations weren’t met.

They commissioned a town plan and built the Moore Haven & Clewiston Railroad to connect the community to the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad at Moore Haven. Incorporated as a city in 1925, Clewiston would become noted for its sport fishing, particularly of largemouth bass.
