A Few Things To Ask When You Are Considering Hiring a Sports Photographer

If the photographer answers is no then stop right there. No need to continue the discussion. Should you employ a relative or aquaintance to take the photographs, and they have an accident, who is going to pay for the medical expenses. Remember in the United States people sue very quickly so you need to be protected.

If the answer is yes, then keep questioning to see how much coverage is afforded inside the insurance, what is and isn’t included in the policy, and who has to pay for any deductions that aren’t covered?

Also ensure that you get a copy of the insurance prior to the event to to be sure the insurance really does exist and that it is still active.

You ought to know how long the applicant has been a sports photographer, where they did their photographic training and what qualifications, if any that they have. Do they belong to any photographer associations and if they’ve ever won any photgraphy competitions. If the answer is yes, always ask to see proof.

Any reputable and reliable sports photographer should have no problem in offering references from previous clients. Make sure you call them and ask questions such as:

  • Was he/she a pleasure to work with?
  • What were the final shots like? Were you satisfied?
  • Would you hire him/her again?

Ask to look at samples of their work from different sporting events. This will give you a better idea of the depth of the photographer’s work and how good they are. In addition, by viewing different events you will get a good idea of whether or not the photographer is consistently good…or just lucky every once in a while.

By having could possibly make the shoot run a lot more smoothly. Two heads are better than one, right? An assistant or second photographer will also mean have the same shots taken from different angles and therefore showing different effects. Also, there will be a a little insurance of not missing shots if the equipment of the first photographer breaks down.

It’s important to establish exactly what you are getting for your money before you sign any contracts. How long will the photographer be at the event? How many images will you get? How will you receive the proofs to choose from? Will there be post-production editing of images to remove any blemishes? Does the package you choose include albums or framed photographs?

Also, make sure that you ask how long you have to decide which photographs you would like delivered after seeing the proofs, and how long it takes to receive the final photographs?

It’s vital that you ask all these questions and don’t just assume. Doing this means that you can avoid disappointment and arguments because your expectations haven’t been met.

More About Calhoun County, Florida

Calhoun County is a county located in the U.S. state of Florida. As of the 2010 census, the population was 14,625,[2] making it the fifth-least populous county in Florida. Its county seat is Blountstown.[3]

Calhoun County was created in 1838. It was named for John C. Calhoun, member of the United States Senate from South Carolina and the seventh U.S. vice president, serving under John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson.[4] Typical in the Florida Panhandle, a majority of Calhoun County’s residents remain much more attached to Southern culture and lifestyle habits than is common in the Central and Southern regions of the state, and the area holds much more in common with states such as Alabama, Georgia, or Mississippi than with much of Florida.
