Factors to Consider When Hiring A Portrait Photographer

A family portrait is more than a simple photograph, it is a veritable heirloom that will be passed down from generation to generation, a valuable artifact of family tradition that will speak to your kids and grand-kids of their past, and where they come from. Not any random photographer can fulfill the needs of a good, quality family portrait. To capture the essence of your family, you have to work with a professional portrait photographer.

Although you might think about a professional portrait photographer as an unnecessary expense, when you think about that your family portrait is more like an investment that will last for generations, the expense seems quite justified. Not only will it give happiness and comfort to your kids and grand-kids, when you r children have left your home for college or jobs, you will have the ability to look back at your family portrait and obtain enormous joy from it.

Before you set off on your quest to find a good portrait photographer, you have to consider 3 things: your planned budget plan, the kind of photographs you want to get captured, and what you plan to do with them upon delivery.

Your maximum budget will determine your choice of photography studio. The majority of photography studios charge their clients a low session fee. A more busy photographer might have several such sessions throughout the day. The photographs are taken in a studio setting, and you can request anything from formal portraits to high key photographs against a white background, and even ‘action’ shots. A good photographer must be able to work with you to achieve the exact type of portrait you prefer. A quality studio will also be able to supply you with the entire spectrum of after shoot services such as prints and frames.

Next, you should consult with your family to ask them about the kind of family portrait photographs they wish to get taken. You can choose a high key portrait with a white background, a more demure, sober low-key photograph with moody lighting and dull colors, or perhaps an outdoor photograph that captures your family together in the midst of an activity. A glimpse at the photographer’s portfolio will give you ideas of the type of work your photographer is good at.

Finally, you must determine what you plan to do with the portrait(s) after they have been taken. Do you desire a large framed print that you can hang on the wall, or a series of photographs that capture different moments in the family? Would you prefer a printed canvas, or maybe you wish to go a bit more stylish with a printed coffee table book? The quality and design of the portrait will vary with its intended usage. A quality portrait photographer will be able to recognize what you want, and capture photographs appropriately.

More About Palatka, Florida

Palatka (pronounced puh-lat-kuh) is a city in Putnam County, Florida, United States. The population was 10,558 at the 2010 census.[5] It is the county seat of Putnam County.[6] Palatka is the principal city of the Palatka Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is home to 72,893 residents. The city is also home to St. Johns River State College, St. Johns River Water Management District Headquarters, and Ravine Gardens State Park. The area is well known for its local festivals, most notably the Florida Azalea Festival and the Blue Crab Festival.

The area was once the domain of the Timucuan peoples, two tribes of which existed in the Palatka region under chiefs Saturiwa and Utina. They fished bass and mullet, or hunted deer, turkeys, bear and opossum. Others farmed beans, corn, melons, squash, and tobacco. However, infectious disease that came with European contact and war devastated the tribes, and they were extinct by the mid-18th century. The last people evacuated with the Spanish to Cuba in 1763, when Spain ceded Florida to Great Britain after the Seven Years’ War.
