5 Reasons You Why You Ought to Consider Hiring a Professional Pet Photographer

Sure, camera equipment is fairly inexpensive, but amateurs are still amateurs. Here’s how a professional can make a big difference to the end results of your pet photography.

Pet photography ranges from photographs of domesticated animals (pet dogs to cats to birds) to more editorial type shots that make every effort to record the charm of animals (think horse and equine photography) connecting in their natural or domestic environment.

High quality pet photography seeks to display, creatively, the character of the animal being photographed. These shoots can be held in various locations, from studio to on-location. A lot of pet photographers have their own style and while some might shoot all sorts of animals, certain professional photographers may specialize specific type of pets.

Here are 5 excellent reasons why you can’t beat a hiring a professional pet photographer.

1. You cannot replace knowledge and experience

Technological improvements have actually made high-quality equipment far more budget friendly for amateur photographers, but amateurs are still amateurs. Professional photographers don’t just have the camera, lenses, and other complimentary devices needed to get the ideal shot, they have the training and experience to do so too.

2. You cannot beat the creativity of a professional pet photographer

Your pet’s character can shines through in the pictures that you take of him/her. The best pet photographers take into account not only the character of your pet but also their lifestyle.

3. You can’t beat the ease

Let the professional crawl around on the lawn – or jump in the swimming pool – while you sit back, unwind, and view the action unfold. You might just pick up a few tips to improve your pet shooting skills.

4. You cannot beat the efficiency

A professional pet photographer will have the know-how to snap the very best images in the least amount of time. They typically charge by the hour and have no desire to waste their time or yours.

5. You can participate in the fun

A lot of professional pet photographers these days aim to catch the bond between you and your pet, resulting in a valued photo that will certainly hang in a place of significance in your home for many years to come.

Tips on selecting a professional pet photographer

1. Look for a specialist photographer

When picking a pet photographer, you really should pick someone who enjoys and is comfortable with your pet – somebody who is allergic to cats, but loves dogs is not a great choice to photograph Kitty. By the same token, a love of dogs does not indicate your photographer is comfortable or has experience shooting horse photography in an arena. Seek out a photographer who has experience shooting your type of pet, let them know exactly what you’re trying to get in your pet shoot, and check out their online portfolio to check for experience and style compatibility.

Check out a photographer’s site to see their previous work, and after that interview him or her prior to scheduling an appointment. Inquire about the creative process and how the actual session will unfold. Make sure you feel comfortable with the photographer before booking the actual shoot. If you don’t click with him or her, odds are your pet will not either.

2. Choose the deliverables

Discuss prior to the shoot with your pet photographer on what your goals are for the photography session and exactly what you plan to do with the photos. Communicating where and how you plan to utilize the images can assist your photographer get the photos that you are searching for and guarantee that the final deliverables satisfy your expectations.

3. Scheduling the shoot

When shooting outdoors think about the comfort of your animal and try to schedule your shoot with favorable lighting conditions – generally late afternoon. By minimizing the amount of equipment and lighting your photographer needs on the shoot, you also help to reduce the tension the photo shoot might trigger for your animal. When shooting in a studio, bring a favorite toy or other pet item. And in all cases, bring treats with you.

4. After the photography session

Most pet photos will be provided digitally. The pet photographer will usually let you preview the proofs so you can identify your favorite photographs and you therefore don’t end up paying for photographs that you don’t want. Be sure to ask if the photographs will be provided unedited, or will the photographer use software to do some post-production retouch work (where the photographer corrects lighting, color grades or gets rid of blemishes, etc from the photos).

How much does Pet Photography cost?

Animal photography rates will have to be set based upon the kind of photography (studio or in the field) needed and the level of equipment and skill required to get the shot for the client. Factors that will determine the price will be experience, equipment, travel, dangers, environmental aspects and the specific customer requirements. Some photographer will charge per session and others may charge by print. Communicate with the photographer about their pay structure and how they break it down. And be sure you discuss how they want to handle the photograph rights as purchasing complete rights to the images will add to the final cost.

Try to find a deal if you can. Professional pet photography can be costly. If you have restricted funds, keep your eye out for a discount. Many professional photographers are moving into pet photography and want to attract new clients; also particular times of year business may be slow for those both developed and brand-new pet photographers. Always keep quality in mind and do your research before putting down any loan, no matter how excellent the deal might sound.
