5 Reasons You Why You Should Consider Employing a Professional Pet Photographer

Sure, camera gear is relatively low in cost, but amateurs are still amateurs. Here’s how a professional can make a big difference in the end results of your pet photography.

Pet photography varies from portraits of domesticated animals (pet dogs to cats to birds) to more editorial type shots that strive to catch the appeal of animals (picture horse and equine photography) connecting in their natural or domestic environment.

High quality pet photography aims to show, artistically, the character of the animal being photographed. These shoots can be held in different locations, from studio to on-location. A lot of pet professional photographers have their own style and while some might shoot all sorts of animals, certain professional photographers may specialize specific kinds of pets.

Here are five excellent reasons you can’t beat a working with a professional pet photographer.

1. You can’t replace knowledge and experience

Technological improvements have made premium photography equipment a lot more affordable for amateur photographers, however amateurs are still amateurs. Professional photographers not only have the camera, lenses, and other complimentary devices required to get the perfect shot, they have the training and experience to do so too.

2. You cannot beat the imagination of a professional pet photographer

Your pet’s character should shines through in the photos that you take of him/her. The best pet photographers think about not only the personality of your pet but also their lifestyle.

3. It can’t get any easier

Let the professional crawl around on the grass – or jump in the swimming pool – while you sit back, unwind, and watch the action unfold. You might just grab a couple of tips to improve your pet photography skills.

4. You can’t beat the end-result

A professional pet photographer will have the knowledge to get the best images in the least amount of time. They generally charge by the hour and have no desire to waste their time or yours.

5. You can participate in the fun

Most professional pet photographers nowadays strive to record the bond between you and your pet, resulting in a valued photo that will undoubtedly hang in a location of significance in your house for years to come.

Tips on choosing a professional pet photographer

1. Look for a specialist photographer

When selecting a pet photographer, you actually should select someone who likes and is comfortable with your pet – somebody who is allergic to cats, but enjoys dogs is not a great choice to shoot Kitty. By the same token, a love of dogs does not suggest your photographer is comfortable or has experience shooting horse photography in an arena. Look for a photographer who has experience shooting your type of pet, make them understand exactly what you’re trying to get in your pet shoot, and check out their online portfolio to check for experience and style compatibility.

Check out a photographer’s website to see their previous work, then interview him or her prior to scheduling an appointment. Inquire about the creative process and how the actual session will unfold. Make sure you feel totally at ease with the photographer prior to booking the actual shoot. If you do not click with them, chances are your pet will not either.

2. Determine the deliverables

Discuss prior to the shoot with your pet photographer on what your goals are for the photography session and exactly what you mean to do with the images. Interacting where and how you will utilize the photos can help your photographer get the photographs that you’re searching for and guarantee that the final deliverables satisfy your expectations.

3. Scheduling the shoot

When shooting outdoors consider the comfort of your animal and aim to schedule your shoot with favorable lighting conditions – typically late afternoon. By decreasing the amount of equipment and lighting your photographer needs on the shoot, you also assist to reduce the stress the photo shoot might trigger for your animal. When shooting in a studio, bring a favorite toy or other pet item. And in all cases, take treats with you.

4. After the photography shoot

Most pet photos will be provided digitally. The pet photographer will usually let you preview the proofs so you can determine your favorite photographs and you therefore do not end up paying for pictures that you don’t want to keep. Be sure to ask if the photographs will be provided unedited, or will the photographer use software to do some post-production retouch work (where the photographer corrects lighting, color grades or gets rid of blemishes, etc from the photos).

Just how much does Pet Photography cost?

Animal photography rates will have to be set based upon the type of photography (studio or in the field) needed and the level of equipment and ability required to get the shot for the client. Factors that will identify the rate will be experience, equipment, travel, threats, environmental elements and the specific customer requirements. Some photographer will charge per session and others may charge by print. Communicate with the photographer about their pay structure and how it breaks down. And be sure you discuss how they would like to manage the photograph rights as acquiring full rights to the images will add to the final cost.

Look for a special offer if you can. Professional pet photography can be pricey. If you have restricted funds, keep your eye out for a discount. A lot of professional photographers are moving into pet photography and wish to draw in new customers; also specific times of year business might be sluggish for those both established and brand-new pet photographers. However, always keep quality in mind and do your due diligence before putting down any money, no matter how excellent the deal might sound.

More About Port Saint Joe, Florida

Port St. Joe is a city located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 98 and State Road 71 in Gulf County, Florida, United States. As of the 2010 census the population was 3,445.[4] This was a decline from 3,644 as of the 2000 census. Port St. Joe became the county seat of Gulf County in 1965.[5][not in citation given]

St. Joseph was founded in 1835 by businessmen from nearby Apalachicola, which was troubled by legal conflict over land titles.[6] It was mostly abandoned in 1841 after a yellow fever epidemic; hurricanes in 1843 and 1851 destroyed what structures remained.[7] In the early 20th century a new settlement was founded close to the original after the arrival of the Apalachicola Northern Railroad in 1909. It appears that the more informal “Port St. Joe” was adopted for official use around this time.
