Technological advancements have made top quality photography equipment a lot more budget friendly for amateur photographers, however amateurs are still amateurs. Professional photographers don’t just have the camera, lenses, and other complimentary devices needed to get the best shot, they have the training and experience to do so too.

2. You cannot beat the imagination of a professional pet photographer

Your pet’s character can shines through in the pictures that you take of him/her. The best pet photographers take into account not only the character of your pet but also his/her lifestyle.

3. You cannot beat the ease

5. You can join in the fun

A lot of professional pet photographers these days make every effort to capture the bond between you and your pet, resulting in a cherished picture that will surely hang in a place of significance in your house for many years to come.

Tips on choosing a professional pet photographer

1. Find a specialist photographer

When picking a pet photographer, you really want to select somebody who likes and is comfortable with your pet – somebody who is allergic to cats, but loves dogs is not a good option to photograph Kitty. By the same token, a love of dogs doesn’t indicate your photographer is comfortable or has experience shooting horse photography in an arena. Look for a photographer who has experience shooting your species of pet, let them know exactly what you’re searching for in your pet shoot, and check out their online portfolio to look for experience and style compatibility.

Check out a photographer’s site to see their previous work, then interview them prior to scheduling an appointment. Inquire about the creative process and how the actual session will unfold. Ensure you feel comfortable with the photographer prior to booking the actual shoot. If you don’t click with him or her, chances are your pet won’t either.

2. Choose the deliverables

Discuss before the shoot with your pet photographer on what your goals are for the photography session and what you intend to do with the images. Communicating where and how you will utilize the images can help your photographer get the photographs that you are looking for and ensure that the final deliverables meet your expectations.

3. Scheduling the shoot

When shooting outdoors consider the comfort of your pet and aim to arrange your shoot with favorable lighting conditions – typically late afternoon. By reducing the amount of equipment and lighting your photographer requires on the shoot, you also assist to reduce the stress the photo shoot may trigger for your animal. When shooting in a studio, bring a favorite toy or other pet item. And in all cases, bring treats with you.

4. After the photography shoot

Most pet pictures will be delivered digitally. The pet photographer will typically let you preview the proofs so you can determine your favorite photographs and you therefore don’t wind up paying for photos that you do not want. Make sure to ask if the photographs will be delivered unedited, or will the photographer use photographic software to do some post-production touch up work (where the photographer corrects lighting, color grades or eliminates blemishes, etc from the photos).

Just how much does Pet Photography cost?

Animal photography prices will need to be set based upon the type of photography (studio or in the field) needed and the level of equipment and skill needed to get the shot for the client. Aspects that will identify the cost will be experience, equipment, travel, dangers, environmental aspects and the specific customer requirements. Some photographer will charge per session and others may charge by print. Communicate with the photographer about their pay structure and how they break it down. And be sure to discuss how they wish to manage the photograph rights as buying full rights to the images will add to the cost.

Look for a special offer if you can. Professional pet photography can be pricey. If you have restricted funds, keep your eye out for seasonal special offers. A lot of professional photographers are moving into pet photography and wish to bring in new customers; also specific times of year business might be slow for those both developed and brand-new pet photographers. Always keep quality in mind and do your research prior to putting down any money, no matter how excellent the deal might sound.
