5 Reasons You Why You Ought to Consider Employing a Professional Pet Photographer

Sure, camera gear is relatively low in cost, but amateurs are still amateurs. Here’s how a professional can make a huge difference to the end results of your pet photography.

Pet photography ranges from photographs of domesticated animals (pet dogs to cats to birds) to more editorial type shots that aim to record the charm of animals (picture horse and equine photography) connecting in their natural or domestic environment.

Excellent pet photography seeks to display, creatively, the character of the creature being photographed. These shoots can be carried out in various locations, from studio to on-location. The majority of pet photographers have their own style and while some may shoot all sorts of animals, certain professional photographers may specialize specific type of animals.

Here are five good reasons that you cannot beat a hiring a professional pet photographer.

1. You cannot substitute for knowledge and experience

Technological developments have made high-quality photography equipment far more affordable for amateur photographers, however amateurs are still amateurs. Professional photographers not only have the camera, lenses, and other complimentary devices required to get the perfect shot, they have the training and experience to do so too.

2. You cannot beat the imagination of a professional pet photographer

Your pet’s personality should shines through in the pictures that you take of him/her. The best pet photographers take into account not only the personality of your pet but also his or her way of life.

3. It cannot get any easier

Let the professional crawl around on the yard – or jump in the pool – while you relax, unwind, and watch the action unfold. You might also grab a few helpful hints to improve your pet shooting skills.

4. You cannot beat the end-result

A professional pet photographer also has the knowledge to get the very best images in the least amount of time. They typically charge by the hour and have no desire to waste their time or yours.

5. You can participate in the fun

Most professional pet photographers nowadays aim to catch the bond between you and your pet, resulting in a treasured image that will undoubtedly hang in a location of importance in your home for several years to come.

Tips on choosing a professional pet photographer

1. Look for a specialist photographer

When selecting a pet photographer, you really should choose somebody who likes and is comfortable with your pet – someone who is allergic to cats, but loves dogs is not a great option to photograph Kitty. By the same token, a love of dogs doesn’t imply your photographer is comfortable or has experience shooting horse photography in an arena. Seek out a photographer who has experience shooting your type of pet, let them know exactly what you’re trying to get in your pet shoot, and check out their online portfolio to look for experience and style compatibility.

Explore a photographer’s website to see their previous work, and after that interview them prior to scheduling a consultation. Inquire about the creative process and how the actual session will unfold. Make certain you feel comfortable with the photographer prior to scheduling the actual shoot. If you don’t click with him or her, odds are your pet won’t either.

2. Determine the deliverables

Discuss before the shoot with your pet photographer on what your objectives are for the photography session and exactly what you intend to do with the images. Communicating where and how you will use the photos can help your photographer get the photos that you are looking for and make sure that the final deliverables meet your expectations.

3. Scheduling the session

When shooting outdoors consider the comfort of your animal and aim to schedule your shoot with favorable lighting conditions – normally late afternoon. By decreasing the amount of equipment and lighting your photographer requires on the shoot, you also assist to lower the stress the photo shoot may trigger for your animal. When shooting in a studio, bring a preferred toy or other pet item. And in all cases, bring treats with you.

4. After the photography session

Most pet images will be provided digitally. The pet photographer will generally let you preview the proofs so you can determine your preferred photographs and you for that reason do not wind up paying for photographs that you don’t want to keep. Make certain to ask if the photographs will be delivered unedited, or will the photographer use photographic software to do some post-production touch up work (where the photographer corrects lighting, color grades or removes blemishes, etc from the photos).

How much does Pet Photography cost?

Animal photography rates will have to be set based upon the kind of photography (studio or in the field) needed and the level of equipment and ability needed to get the shot for the customer. Factors that will identify the cost will be experience, equipment, travel, risks, environmental aspects and the specific client requirements. Some photographer will charge per session and others might charge by print. Discuss with the photographer about their pay structure and how they break it down. And be sure you discuss how they want to handle the photograph rights as buying full rights to the images will add to the final cost.

Try to find a special offer if you can. Professional pet photography can be pricey. If you have limited funds, keep your eye out for seasonal special offers. A lot of professional photographers are moving into pet photography and want to attract new clients; also particular times of year business may be slow for those both established and brand-new pet photographers. However, always keep quality in mind and do your research prior to putting down any cash, no matter how good the offer might sound.
