5 Reasons You Why You Ought to Consider Hiring a Professional Pet Photographer

Sure, camera gear is relatively inexpensive, however amateurs are still amateurs. Here’s how a professional can make a huge difference in the end results of your pet photography.

Pet photography ranges from portraits of domesticated animals (dogs to cats to birds) to more editorial type shots that make every effort to record the charm of animals (picture horse and equine photography) engaging in their natural or domestic environment.

Excellent pet photography seeks to display, artistically, the character of the animal being photographed. These shoots can be carried out in different places, from studio to on-location. The majority of pet photographers have their own style and while some may shoot all sorts of animals, other professional photographers prefer to specialize specific kinds of pets.

Here are 5 excellent reasons why you can’t beat a hiring a professional pet photographer.

1. You cannot replace knowledge and experience

Technological improvements have actually made top quality equipment far more budget friendly for amateur photographers, however amateurs are still amateurs. Professional photographers not only have the camera, lenses, and other equipment required to get the best shot, they have the training and experience to do so too.

2. You cannot beat the creativity of a professional pet photographer

Your pet’s character should shines through in the pictures that you take of him/her. The very best pet photographers take into account not only the character of your pet but also his or her way of life.

3. It cannot get any easier

Let the professional crawl around on the yard – or jump in the pool – while you sit back, unwind, and enjoy the action unfold. You may just pick up a few tips to improve your own pet shooting skills.

4. You cannot beat the effectiveness

A professional pet photographer also has the knowledge to snap the best images in the least amount of time. They normally charge by the hour and have no desire to waste their time or yours.

5. You can participate in the fun

A lot of professional pet photographers these days strive to capture the bond between you and your pet, resulting in a cherished picture that will definitely hang in a location of significance in your home for years to come.

Tips on choosing a professional pet photographer

1. Look for a specialist photographer

When choosing a pet photographer, you really want to pick somebody who likes and is comfortable with your pet – somebody who is allergic to cats, but loves dogs is not a great choice to shoot Kitty. By the same token, a love of dogs does not imply your photographer is comfortable or has experience shooting horse photography in an arena. Look for a photographer who has experience shooting your species of pet, let them know exactly what you’re trying to get in your pet shoot, and check out their online portfolio to look for experience and style compatibility.

Explore a photographer’s website to see their previous work, and then interview them prior to making an appointment. Inquire about the creative process and how the actual session will unfold. Make certain you feel comfortable with the photographer prior to scheduling the actual shoot. If you don’t click with them, odds are your pet will not either.

2. Choose the deliverables

Discuss prior to the shoot with your pet photographer on what your goals are for the photography session and exactly what you plan to do with the images. Communicating where and how you will utilize the images can help your photographer get the photographs that you’re trying to achieve and make sure that the final deliverables meet your expectations.

3. Scheduling the shoot

When shooting outdoors think about the comfort of your pet and try to arrange your shoot with favorable lighting conditions – generally late afternoon. By minimizing the amount of equipment and lighting your photographer needs on the shoot, you also help to decrease the tension the photo shoot might cause for your animal. When shooting in a studio, bring a preferred toy or other pet item. And in all cases, bring treats with you.

4. After the photography session

Most pet images will be delivered digitally. The pet photographer will normally let you preview the proofs so you can determine your preferred photographs and you for that reason don’t end up paying for pictures that you don’t want to keep. Make certain to ask if the photographs will be delivered unedited, or will the photographer use photographic software to do some post-production retouch work (where the photographer remedies lighting, color grades or eliminates blemishes, etc from the photos).

How much does Pet Photography cost?

Animal photography rates will have to be set based on the kind of photography (studio or in the field) required and the level of equipment and skill required to get the shot for the client. Factors that will identify the price will be experience, equipment, travel, threats, environmental elements and the specific customer requirements. Some photographer will charge per session and others might charge by print. Communicate with the photographer about their pay structure and how it breaks down. And be sure to discuss how they would like to manage the photograph rights as acquiring full rights to the images will add to the cost.

Try to find a special offer if you can. Professional pet photography can be pricey. If you have restricted funds, keep your eye out for seasonal special offers. A lot of professional photographers are moving into pet photography and want to attract new customers; also particular times of year business might be sluggish for those both developed and brand-new pet photographers. Always keep quality in mind and do your research before putting down any money, no matter how good the offer might sound.
