5 Reasons You Why You Should Consider Employing a Professional Pet Photographer

Sure, camera gear is fairly cheap, but amateurs are still amateurs. Here’s how a professional can make a huge difference to the end results of your pet photography.

Pet photography ranges from photographs of domesticated animals (pet dogs to cats to birds) to more editorial type shots that strive to catch the appeal of animals (picture horse and equine photography) connecting in their natural or domestic environment.

Great pet photography seeks to display, creatively, the character of the animal being photographed. These shoots can be carried out in various locations, from studio to on-location. The majority of pet professional photographers have their own style and while some may shoot all sorts of animals, other professional photographers prefer to specialize particular type of pets.

Here are five good reasons you cannot beat a working with a professional pet photographer.

1. You can’t replace knowledge and experience

Technological advancements have made premium photography equipment much more budget friendly for amateur photographers, however amateurs are still amateurs. Professional photographers not only have the camera, lenses, and other equipment required to get the perfect shot, they have the training and experience to do so too.

2. You can’t beat the imagination of a professional pet photographer

Your pet’s character can shines through in the photos that you take of him/her. The best pet photographers think about not only the character of your pet but also their way of life.

3. It cannot get any easier

Let the professional crawl around on the yard – or jump in the swimming pool – while you relax, unwind, and watch the action unfold. You might just pick up a couple of helpful hints to improve your own pet shooting skills.

4. You can’t beat the end-result

A professional pet photographer will have the know-how to get the very best images in the least amount of time. They generally charge by the hour and have no desire to waste their time or yours.

5. You can participate in the fun

Most professional pet photographers nowadays strive to catch the bond between you and your pet, resulting in a treasured photo that will certainly hang in a location of significance in your house for many years to come.

Tips on choosing a professional pet photographer

1. Find a specialist photographer

When selecting a pet photographer, you truly should pick someone who enjoys and is comfortable with your pet – somebody who dislikes cats, but loves dogs is not a good option to photograph Kitty. By the same token, a love of dogs doesn’t indicate your photographer is comfortable or has experience shooting horse photography in an arena. Look for a photographer who has experience shooting your type of pet, let them know what you’re searching for in your pet shoot, and check out their online portfolio to look for experience and style compatibility.

Check out a photographer’s site to see their previous work, and after that interview them prior to scheduling a consultation. Ask about the creative process and how the actual session will unfold. Make certain you feel comfortable with the photographer prior to booking the actual shoot. If you don’t click with them, chances are your pet won’t either.

2. Decide on the deliverables

Discuss before the shoot with your pet photographer on what your objectives are for the photography session and what you intend to do with the images. Interacting where and how you plan to use the images can help your photographer get the photos that you are searching for and make sure that the final deliverables fulfill your expectations.

3. Scheduling the session

When shooting outdoors think about the comfort of your animal and try to arrange your shoot with favorable lighting conditions – usually late afternoon. By minimizing the amount of equipment and lighting your photographer needs on the shoot, you also help to decrease the tension the photo shoot may cause for your animal. When shooting in a studio, bring a preferred toy or other pet item. And in all cases, take treats with you.

4. After the photography shoot

Most pet images will be provided digitally. The pet photographer will generally let you preview the proofs so you can identify your preferred photographs and you for that reason do not end up paying for photographs that you do not want. Be sure to ask if the photographs will be delivered unedited, or will the photographer use software to do some post-production retouch work (where the photographer corrects lighting, color grades or gets rid of blemishes, etc from the photos).

Just how much does Pet Photography cost?

Animal photography pricing will have to be set based upon the kind of photography (studio or in the field) needed and the level of equipment and ability required to get the shot for the customer. Elements that will determine the rate will be experience, equipment, travel, risks, environmental elements and the specific client requirements. Some photographer will charge per session and others might charge by print. Discuss with the photographer about their pay structure and how it breaks down. And make sure to discuss how they want to manage the photograph rights as buying full rights to the images will add to the cost.

Look for a deal if you can. Professional pet photography can be pricey. If you have limited funds, keep your eye out for seasonal special offers. Many professional photographers are moving into pet photography and wish to attract new customers; also specific times of year business might be slow for those both developed and brand-new pet photographers. However, always keep quality in mind and do your research prior to putting down any money, no matter how great the offer might sound.
