5 Reasons You Why You Ought to Consider Employing a Professional Pet Photographer

Sure, camera equipment is relatively cheap, but amateurs are still amateurs. Here’s how a professional can make a huge difference to the end results of your pet photography.

Pet photography ranges from photographs of domesticated animals (dogs to cats to birds) to more editorial type shots that strive to record the charm of animals (think horse and equine photography) engaging in their natural or domestic environment.

High quality pet photography seeks to display, creatively, the character of the creature being photographed. These shoots can be held in various places, from studio to on-location. The majority of pet professional photographers have their own style and while some might shoot all sorts of animals, certain professional photographers prefer to specialize particular type of animals.

Here are five good reasons that you cannot beat a hiring a professional pet photographer.

1. You cannot replace knowledge and experience

Technological improvements have actually made premium photography equipment much more affordable for amateur photographers, however amateurs are still amateurs. Professional photographers don’t just have the camera, lenses, and other equipment required to get the ideal shot, they have the training and experience to do so too.

2. You cannot beat the creativity of a professional pet photographer

Your pet’s character can shines through in the photos that you take of him/her. The very best pet photographers take into consideration not only the personality of your pet but also his or her way of life.

3. You can’t beat the ease

Let the professional crawl around on the ground – or jump in the pool – while you relax, unwind, and enjoy the action unfold. You might also grab a couple of helpful hints to improve your own pet photography abilitiy.

4. You cannot beat the efficiency

A professional pet photographer also has the knowledge to get the very best images in the least amount of time. They usually charge by the hour and have no desire to waste their time or yours.

5. You can participate in the fun

The majority of professional pet photographers these days make every effort to record the bond between you and your pet, resulting in a cherished image that will undoubtedly hang in a location of importance in your home for many years to come.

Tips on picking a professional pet photographer

1. Look for a specialist photographer

When choosing a pet photographer, you actually should choose someone who likes and is comfortable with your pet – somebody who dislikes cats, but likes dogs is not a good option to shoot Kitty. By the same token, a love of dogs does not suggest your photographer is comfortable or has experience shooting horse photography in an arena. Seek out a photographer who has experience shooting your species of pet, make them understand exactly what you’re trying to get in your pet shoot, and check out their online portfolio to check for experience and style compatibility.

Check out a photographer’s website to see their previous work, and after that interview him or her prior to scheduling an appointment. Inquire about the creative process and how the actual session will unfold. Make sure you feel totally at ease with the photographer prior to scheduling the actual shoot. If you do not click with him or her, chances are your pet will not either.

2. Choose the deliverables

Discuss before the shoot with your pet photographer on what your goals are for the photography session and exactly what you intend to do with the images. Interacting where and how you will utilize the photos can help your photographer get the photographs that you’re searching for and ensure that the final deliverables meet your expectations.

3. Scheduling the session

When shooting outdoors think about the comfort of your animal and try to schedule your shoot with favorable lighting conditions – usually late afternoon. By reducing the amount of equipment and lighting your photographer needs on the shoot, you also assist to decrease the tension the photo shoot might trigger for your animal. When shooting in a studio, bring a favorite toy or other pet item. And in all cases, take treats with you.

4. After the photography shoot

Most pet images will be provided digitally. The pet photographer will typically let you preview the proofs so you can identify your favorite photographs and you for that reason don’t wind up paying for photographs that you do not want to keep. Be sure to ask if the photographs will be provided unedited, or will the photographer use photographic software to do some post-production retouch work (where the photographer remedies lighting, color grades or removes imperfections, etc from the photos).

Just how much does Pet Photography cost?

Animal photography rates will have to be set based upon the kind of photography (studio or in the field) required and the level of equipment and skill needed to get the shot for the client. Aspects that will determine the cost will be experience, equipment, travel, dangers, environmental aspects and the specific customer requirements. Some photographer will charge per session and others might charge by print. Communicate with the photographer about their pay structure and how it breaks down. And be sure to discuss how they wish to handle the photograph rights as buying complete rights to the images will add to the final cost.

Search for a deal if you can. Professional pet photography can be costly. If you have restricted funds, keep your eye out for a discount. A lot of professional photographers are moving into pet photography and wish to draw in new customers; also particular times of year business may be slow for those both developed and new pet photographers. Always keep quality in mind and do your research before putting down any money, no matter how great the deal might sound.
