10 Tips for Choosing the Right Photographer for your Event

Are you in need of an event photographer to capture your next business conference, seasonal party, wedding, or company retreat? If you’ve just recently started searching for one, you’re most likely recognizing what a complicated job it can be, as there are countless photographers to pick from. Here are some pointers to keep in mind when picking your next event photographer.

Know how much you want to spend|your budget}.
This is the initial step in limiting your options for a professional photographer. When planning your budget, remember the length of your event. Is it a four-hour cocktail party or a five-day conference? If you’re on a very low budget, you may need to consider working with a good friend or family hobbyist to photograph your occasion. If you choose this route don’t expect the best results if you decide not to hire a professional photographer who offers both expertise and experience.

Decide on your photographic style.
What are these images going to be used for? A lot of occasions are being photographed for historic purposes, to get a basic catalog of the occasion attendees, speakers, and entertainment. This typically also consists of the traditional postured, smiling shots which are terrific to have as mementos of your occasion. If you’re going to be using the pictures for other purposes such as marketing collateral for use in websites and brochures, then you may want to have the photographer shoot in a somewhat different, more commercialized way.

Ask family and friends for referrals.
Word of mouth can still be one of the best methods to find well-respected professional photographers near you. If you do end up calling a photographer that was referred to you, make sure to mention your connection when you speak to them. You never know, you may even get a discounted rate for being a recommendation.

Browse online and check out online ratings.
Now it’s time to check out Google. Inspect customer reviews to make sure the photographer has a really good reputation. Also, take a look at the photographer’s website to get a feel for who they are and their typical photographic style. If they have a poorly designed website you’ll need to proceed with great caution as they might not be as knowledgeable as other event photographers in the area.

Look through their portfolio before choosing them.
Nowadays most photographers have at least some of their portfolio on their web site, which makes it super easy to examine their previous work. You can always ask if they have other samples of work or a hard-copy portfolio to skim if that makes you more comfortable. When taking a look at their portfolio, keep in mind the types of shots they take, how well they photograph the event venues, as well as how dynamic they can be in their photography.

Ask them about their experience of photographing events of around the same size as the one you are planning.
Let them know how many guests you are anticipating at your event, and ask if they have a lot of experience handling events of this size. Ask exactly what they thought was challenging and/or intriguing about working an event of that size. Feel them out to make certain they can manage your event comfortably. Listen to any concerns they might have.

Get a feel for the types of events they have the most experience with.
If you’re considering working with a photographer for your event, you’ll want to make certain they have at least some experience handling similar events. If you’re preparing for a corporate management event and they have only covered weddings and family events, they might not be the perfect fit for you. Their portfolio should be enough for you to determine this, but if not, just inquire the number of similar events they have covered.

Ask how long it will take to deliver the photos.
Unfortunately, many professional photographers may take fantastic pictures, but when it comes down to delivering hard copies of the photos or retouching digital images, they take too long to complete the job. This is why it is important that you ask your photographer how soon they can develop your images or re-touch your digital images. It’s best to obtain this answer in writing to secure your investment.

Make sure you have good chemistry with your photographer.
Finally, it’s important that you feel a good rapport between yourself and your photographer because you will be dealing with them for the duration of your event. Do you trust the photographer’s creative abilities? Are they easy to speak to and do they freely respond to all your concerns? Remember they will also be communicating with your event’s guests on some level, so you’ll need to be sure they are typically a friendly person with great social skills. Once you have addressed all of the above details, it’s time to hire your photographer!

Meet prior to the event and evaluation expectations.
Now that you have decided on your photographer, you need to plan to meet with them prior to the event so that you can evaluate your expectations together with any specifics you would like them to cover. For instance, let them know if you want them to take photographs of the event location before your guests arrive. also, tell them where the VIP visitors will be so that they can get lots of photographs of this group at your event. Provide a run-down of the event schedule so they understand all the main elements to mainly focus on.

More About Tavares, Florida

Tavares (pronounced tuh-vair-ees) is a city located in the central portion of the U.S. state of Florida. It is the county seat of Lake County.[6] The population in 2015 was 14,583, with a total of 5,000 households and an average household income of $40,000.[7] It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name is a popular Portuguese surname and toponym.

The city was founded by newspaper and railroad man Alexander St. Clair-Abrams in 1880 and named for a Portuguese ancestor. In 1883 a post office was established, which was followed by a hotel, three stores, a sawmill, and eight cottages in 1884.[8] While St. Clair-Abrams did not achieve his dream that Tavares become the state capital of Florida (Tallahassee has held the spot since 1823), in 1887 the city was named the seat of Lake County. St. Clair-Abrams later chartered a railroad to run from Tavares to Orlando. In 1919, Tavares incorporated as a town.
